Abstract: What does art look like when it is unapologetically black? How does a Black American artist find voice within the lens of an institution that does not see him? Black: Outside the Box is a journal of expression that takes shape in the form of physical and digital workouts that express the ideas, hopes, dreams, and issues as it relates to the Black community. The work is multidisciplinary in nature with the hopes that it expands the view and understanding of what Blackness is and what it means to be an artist. With an aim that anyone who makes and feel they are unseen can find the freedom to make and create in a way that is true to themselves and their unique truth
