Abstract: Developmental Counseling and Therapy (DCT) is an integrative theory that incorporates methods for clinical assessment, intervention, and treatment planning. When used in concert with Adlerian early recollections, the DCT structured clinical assessment can facilitate the process of helping clients examine and find meaning in their early memories while identifying metaphors, defined as personal rules for living, which define their lifestyles. In addition, the DCT model can be used to help clinicians choose interventions to establish rapport and help clients address their presenting issues quickly.
