Abstract: [Slide deck and transcript from a presentation given at the 10th Annual Harry Potter Conference, October 15, 2021.] I want you to take a second and reflect on your social media use. What platforms do youfrequent? When was the last time you checked them? What was the last post you read? What didit say? Did it bring you and those dear to you closer together? Who was the last person youfriended? Followed? Subscribed to? How much do you have in common with that person? Didyou friend them because you care about them? Or because it would benefit you? There are no“right” answers to these questions, only true ones. So take a second and answer them honestly toyourself. Write the answers down if you want, I’ll wait.
