Abstract: Universal design has developed to take into account not just physical function but also otherfactors that promote well-being in our increasingly socially progressive and technologically advanced era. That being said, universal design has evolved to prioritize human-centered issues and social inclusion (Tauke, 2019). Universal design is the process of creating products that are accessible to people with a wide range of abilities, disabilities, and other characteristics (The University of Washington, 2022). This can be anything ranging from people with disabilities, different body types, or different age groups. One important application of universal design is adaptive apparel design for people with disabilities. Disabled people constitute the largest minority group in the world, yet are the most underserved and underrepresented (Haines, 2021). Universal design is an important process for many reasons ranging from legal to ethical, economic, and practical. These are all driving motives for executing and exploring the impact and value of universal design as a method for design (ACCESS-ed, 2011). Some of the benefits to consumers include increased comfort, fit, accessibility, and user satisfaction. Using the case study research approach, this study aims to: (1) to explore the impact of universal design on consumers, and (2) to investigate the connection between universal design and the awareness of sustainability.
