Abstract: This thesis examines the structure of injective modules over commutative noetherian rings. The author shows that any injective module over a commutative noetherian ring can be written as a direct sum of indecomposable injective modules, where each summand is the injective hull of R/P for some prime ideal P. The results are then applied to the ring of integers.
