Abstract: The basic properties of near-rings are examined, and are then used to develop several fundamental theorems, among which are the Factor Theorem, the Isomorphism Theorems, the Correspondence Theorem, and theorems concerning near-ring embeddings. Further, the ideals and modules of near-rings are characterized, and several theorems based on these concepts are proved. A number of examples of near-rings are included, with one of the examples being the set of functions from a group G into itself, denoted by T(G). This near-ring, and one of its sub-near-rings, T0(G), are considered in detail, with a decomposition of T0(G) in terms of left ideals each isomorphic to G being proved.
