Abstract: A study of the electroreduction of cis-dichlorotetraaquochromium (III) chloride was made in the presence of (ethylenedinitrilo)-tetraacetic acid. It was found that the reduction product reacts with the complex forming agent to form a complex which is electrochemically oxidized at the same potential. The chronoamperometric method was used to study the kinetics of such electrode processes. The finite difference approximation method has been applied to solve the partial differential equations obtained by Fick's laws under second order conditions. The working curves have been prepared and the second order rate constants have been measured for the reaction of Cr(II) with EDTA. The activation parameters have been calculated for the reaction under study. A mechanism for this reaction is suggested.
