Abstract: It has been recognized from Adam Smith to Keynes that, "Consumption is the sole end and purpose of all production; and the interest of the producer ought to be attended to only insofar as it may be necessary for promoting that of the consumer."1 This basic economic principle of production might well be considered the beginning of the consumer movement. The Consumer movement in the widest sense of the term consists of all the efforts, organized and unorganized, to make the consumer a wiser buyer and user of those products and services which she acquires in her capacity as a consumer.2
