Abstract: This thesis explores the story of the 1958 Kissing Case in which two black boys, eight and nine years old, were arrested for kissing a white girl in Monroe, NC. In telling this story I seek to understand what happens to black families in the midst of white terrorism by exploring the psyche of each person through persona, the dishonesty of fairytales, and the traditions of formal poetics, god, racism, and religion.
