Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine a group of athletic directors who had been recognized as outstanding in their profession by examining their perceptions of their own administrative behavior. Ninety state Secondary School Athletic Director of the Year Award winners comprised the sample. Three survey instruments were used to gather data for this study: The Responsibility, Authority, and Delegation Scales, the Work Analysis Form, and the Leadership Opinion Questionnaire. A biographical information section was also used to obtain a profile of the sample.
