Abstract: The central purpose of this study was to create a series of literary and artistic works which would interpret certain persons, organizations and events in American physical education in a satiric manner. A second purpose was to present an historical synopsis to substantiate each work prior to its satirical treatment. The final task was to examine the works for evidence of satiric content. Eight subjects having historic significance in American physical education were chosen for satiric treatment: four persons, two organizations and two events. The persons were: (1) Luther Halsey Gulick, (2) Amy Morris Homans, (3) Dudley Allen Sargent, and (4) Jesse Feiring Williams. The organizations were: (1) The American Academy of Physical Education and (2) The National Association for Physical Education in Higher Education. The events were: (1) The Boston Conference of 1889 and (2) The Teachers College, Columbia University, influence on American physical education.
