Abstract: Vitamin A has been found to be involved in the morphological differentiation of epithelial tissue and to play a role in carcinogenesis in certain instances. Recently, the vitamin has been reported to stimulate RNA synthesis in intestinal epithelial tissue. An in vitro system in which to study the unknown mechanism of action and the effects of the vitamin was developed using a systems analysis approach.
