Abstract: In photography, the device that allows a person to enter the darkroom safely (i.e. excluding light) is known as a light trap. This collection of poems, completed as a student in the Master of Fine Arts program at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, is titled Light Trap for practical purposes: to give the reader photographic sensibilities to engage with my work. Here, poems observe and challenge the intersection of duty and loss--through what has been taught, and what is still being made.
