Stephen Dew

Stephen Dew served as Collections and Scholarly Resources Coordinator for the UNCG University Libraries until his retirement in June of 2013. Stephen was responsible for scholarly communications and open access activities for the University Libraries, including coordinating the development activities and copyright issues for NC DOCKS, UNCG’s institutional repository; and coordinating development activities for faculty publishing through Open Journal Systems. He was also responsible for coordinating library and liaison efforts involving collection development and management of materials and resources. As the liaison for the Department of History, he was responsible for all history-related library instruction, research assistance, research guides, and collection development. In addition to his Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Texas, Stephen also has a BA in Chemistry, a MA in History, and a PhD in History from the University of Arkansas. He has published a number of articles and given numerous presentations in the fields of library science and history; and he is the author of The Queen City at War: Charlotte, North Carolina, During World War II, 1939-1945.
