Metabolomic study of disorders including diabetes, obesity, stress, and colorectal cancer to understand: how metabolic profiles of these diseases differ from those of healthy individuals; how some important metabolic pathways such as TCA cycles, homocysteine, and gut microbiota/host interactions can alter in response to environmental stimuli or genetic modification; and how bioactive phytochemical compounds, either alone or in combination, interact with these metabolic pathways to restore the homeostasis of the disturbed metabolic regulatory network.
