Kay A. Lovelace

Kay Lovelace, PhD, MPH earned a PhD from The Kenan-Flagler Business School in 1995, and a MPH from The UNCG School of Public Health in 1979. She has worked in public health practice for 14 years and at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro since 1995. Her research agenda has focused on 1) improving the public health infrastructure through understanding the public health workforce, public health performance, and public health preparedness; 2) youth tobacco use prevention; and 3) organizational and team conflict. In recent years, she has served as principal investigator for an evaluation of local public health preparedness in North Carolina, co-principal investigator in a youth photovoice project aimed at understanding the influence of tobacco in African American communities, and investigator in an enumeration of the public health education workforce in North Carolina. Recently, Dr. Lovelace published a chapter with Bob Aronson, John Hatch and Tony Whitehead titled: "Strengthening Communities and the Roles of Individuals in Community Life," in Public Health and Social Injustice edited by Barry Levy and Vic Sidel.
