Abstract: It was the purpose of this study (1) to determine the causes of absence as stated in parents' written excuses; (2) to determine the causes of absence as shown by a statistical analysis of attendance records; and (3) to determine the causes of absence by investigations and use of pupil guidance questionnaires.
