Abstract: Today, guidance services are recognized as essential parts of the educational activities of our secondary schools throughout the breadth of the United States. Many of the secondary schools in the United States, as well as those of foreign countries, have developed adequate guidance services in which the needs of the students, the school, and the community have been fulfilled. The expansion of the school curriculum, the individualized instructional techniques, the attempt to have pupils become more self-directive, the increasing complexity of society, and other factors have led school administrators to recognize the vital role of a program of guidance services in their schools.
