Abstract: Two experiments were conducted to compare the single and multi-band models of selective attention. Previous work cited in the literature had shown conflicting results both confirming and discrediting the models. Some of the data may be accounted for by assuming a change in the subject's (S's) response criterion. Therefore, the present study examined the concepts of time-sharing and Theory of Signal Detectability (TSD) in relation to auditory selective attention.
