Abstract: Through the medium of digital photography, I am evaluating my personal experiences as an undergraduate senior in light of the common experiences of many in similar positions. No matter what stage of life one finds themselves in, the good and the bad coexist. Sometimes it feels like there is lighter, while other times a person may feel like they are drowning in darkness. My goal is to portray this through the photographs representing my own positive and negative experiences with the understanding that everyone goes through both good and bad times. My photographs range from the ominous and eerie elements of student life during a trying time to the more joyous and light-filled areas of the student experience. In completion, the photographs will be arranged in the Health Science Center gallery to express a full spectrum of experiences in a bi-directional setting that highlights the ups and downs of life. While these photographs can be specific to my experiences, I hope the emotion within them can spark conversations about the variety of life. That a viewer can see their positive and negative experiences within my own and, through that, relate to them on a human level.
