Abstract: This study will investigate the de-escalation of crime , participant perception , and demographics of the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion Program based out of Fayetteville , North Carolina. This community program aims to apply a humanistic approach to alleviate the cycle of imprisonment for those with identifiable health concerns such as sex-trafficking and addiction. This study will investigate the benefits of the LEAD Program by utilizing a three pronged approach including a review of existing records , interview process , and the creation of a resource manual. This comprehensive analysis aims to inform suggested changes for the LEAD Fayetteville team to better improve the program services as well as to better inform other communities similar to Fayetteville in the benefits and implications of piloting a LEAD program. This study is overseen by Dr. Jennifer Matthews , cremeensj@ecu.edu.
