Abstract: This thesis studies q-advanced functions that are used as forcing terms in the forced wave equation and the Korteweg-de Vries equation in modeling tsunamis. The model improves existing tsunami models and is compared to data collected from the 2011 Japanese tsunami. The main results show that one can modify existing q-advanced functions to obtain more accuracy in the forcing of a tsunami and in turn gain a more accurate model of a tsunami propagation and its approach to land.
