Abstract: Many libraries have already have access to packages of electronic books and are either considering or putting into place two other methods of acquisition: title-by-title selection and patron-driven acquisitions (PDA). What issues are involved in planning for these two types of e-book purchases? How should they be treated alike and how different? This presentation will feature the experiences of Joyner Library East Carolina University through the process of setting up both firm order and PDA purchasing models including a frank assessment of our first year into PDA.
