Dr. Naomi Lifschitz-Grant

Dr. Naomi Lifschitz-Grant, earned her EdD in Art and Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, where she also obtained an MA in Art Education. In addition, Dr. Lifschitz-Grant holds a MAE in Instructional Leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She studied painting at Brandeis University and was a fellow at the Yale Summer School of Art and Music at Norfolk. Naomi has taught art for over eighteen years in public and private schools in New York City; Birmingham, Alabama; and in Italy at the preschool, elementary, middle and high school levels and before joining UNCP, she was an instructor in the art and art education program at Teachers College, Columbia University and Bank Street College of Education in New York City, taught at UNC Charlotte in the College of Arts and Architecture and supervised student teachers and taught in the Department of art at Appalachian State University. In addition, Naomi is a practicing artist who has been awarded a number of fellowships and attended artist-in-residency programs at The MacDowell Colony, Vermont Studio Center, A.I.R. Vallauris, Brisons Veor, Centre D’Art, Arad Arts Project, and the Chautauqua Institute.
