Dianne H.B. Welsh

DIANNE H.B. WELSH is the Hayes Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Bryan School of Business and Economics and the Director of the North Carolina Entrepreneurship Center at The University of North Carolina Greensboro. A recognized scholar in international entrepreneurship and franchising, she is co-editor of the first comprehensive volumes on global franchising in emerging and industrialized markets and a new book, Global Entrepreneurship. Dianne is the author of over 100 published manuscripts that have appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Small Business Management, and others. Current research interests are social entrepreneurship, family business, international franchising, and international entrepreneurship sustainability issues. She is the Past President for the U.S. Association for Small Business & Entrepreneurship (USASBE) and was a Presidential Appointee to the Board of Visitors for the U.S. Air Force Academy and a member of the Defense Advisory Committee for Women in the Services (DACOWITS). She serves as the Program Chair-Elect for the Small Business Institute. Dianne was appointed in January 2010 to the first North Carolina Innovation Council. Dianne created the B.S. Entrepreneurship and two minors in Entrepreneurship for business and non-business students-all programs have 31 cross-disciplinary Entrepreneurship courses from across campus. This is the only major with cross-disciplinary courses in the State of North Carolina, and one of the few in the country for a regional university.
