Abstract: It was the purpose of this study (1) to determine the causes of drop-outs in the freshman classes of 1946-1947 through 1951-1952 at Appalachian State Teachers College in Boone, North Carolina; (2) to make an analysis of certain factors believed to cause them to drop out of college; and (3) to make certain suggestions for improving the offerings of the college.
