Abstract: "The following study analyzes the relationship between mental health and factorsaffecting college student athletes. These factors analyzed include eating behaviorand performance pressure. This study was conducted using a data set from TheCollege Health Related Information Survey (C.H.R.I.S.-73): A Screen for College StudentAthletes. This survey was done by Hans Steiner, Renee P. Pyle, Glenn S. Brassington,Gordon Matheson, and Michelle King at the Stanford University School of Medicinein 2003. The study examined the relationships between mental health and collegestudent athletes. Two hypotheses regarding eating habits and performance pressurewere tested. The hypotheses tested were H1: In a study of college athletes, pooreating behavior will negatively impact mental health and H2: In a study of collegestudent athletes, performance pressure will negatively affect mental health. Thefindings of H1 suggest a negative relationship between disordered eating patternsand mental health. The findings of H2 suggest a negative relationship betweenperformance pressure and mental health. Both hypotheses failed to reject the nullhypothesis."
