Abstract: In the study of human emotional responses, much research has been concerned with the expressions of emotions through facial activity, postures, and gestures. Recently, it has become possible to give an indication of what is occurring physiologically when a particular emotion is being expressed through the use of electromyographic (EMS) measurement. What the EMS primarily does is to measure contractions of the voluntary facial muscles that are relative to the expression of different emotions.
