Abstract: The postmodern spirit has challenged modern standards of truth and selfhood. This paper overviews possible responses to this postmodern spirit regarding the concept of God (including rejection of any such concept). It argues that a fairly traditional concept of God can be consistent with the postmodern spirit, especially when this concept is modified to include panentheistic immanence. Finally, given the postmodern rejection of absolute or unmediated knowledge, a model of our knowing God through God's embodiment in the world is developed.
