Abstract: Due to the increasing presence of clients who speak a language other than English, educators and supervisors will need to address bilingual training issues in mental health service provision. Supervision that utilizes the preferred language of the client is an effective way to support growth in bilingual trainees, but there is little scholarly literature describing best practices or approaches to this complex task. We describe our experiences with bilingual supervision in Spanish (from both trainee and supervisor points of view) and provide resources and suggestions to encourage other supervisory dyads to attempt bilingual service provision.
