Abstract: As the Library was under construction at Women’s College in Greensboro North Carolina in thelate 1940’s, then librarian Charles M. Adams described the new building and forthcomingactivities as: “Arrangement provides flexibility, with ample areas for staff work and full serviceto college community”. Over 77 years later this still holds true, for the main library named forWalter Clinton Jackson and commonly known as Jackson Library and the Harold SchiffmanMusic Library conveniently situated in the Music Building. Flexible spaces for student, facultyand staff as well as a full array of services to complement and support the university communityhave been the mission of the University Libraries for many years.
