Abstract: The goal of this project was to provide a descriptive, analytical, and textured understanding of black business owners’ experiences in Durham amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The report provides a rich historical context of black business ownership in Durham prior to the onset of the pandemic, emphasizing the prevalence of racial and gender disparities in business characteristics.
