Abstract: The future of counseling as a profession is being fortified by the actions of recent AACD Boards. One such action—the adoption of the Standards for Preparation of Counselor Education (AKA, 1979) directly concerns counselor education, The AACD and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Boards have decided that no one else is better suited to promulgate these Standards, nor is anyone else more responsible for their support than school counselors themselves.
