Abstract: Diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace can have an impact on staff engagement, communication and patient outcomes. These are driven by multiple variations of biases, including implicit biases. Implicit biases can have a negative impact on the work environment and patient care. Leaders, in health care organizations, can ensure that they as well as their employees develop an understanding of the impact of implicit biases. In this project, the effect of increasing awareness of implicit biases was evaluated, through implicit bias training on leaders of a home health and hospice organization. The results demonstrated that implicit bias training did have a positive impact on increasing awareness.
