Abstract: Populations of the green salamander (Aneides aeneus) in the Blue Ridge Mountains declined 98% in abundance between 1970 and 1999 and are being considered for Candidate Species status by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. The present study was designed to ascertain the current distribution and status of A. aeneus populations throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains.
