Abstract: This thesis is a collection of poems written over two years of study in the MFA Creative Writing program at UNC Greensboro. Poems dig up and tamper with myths concerning the sanctity of the dead, the nuclear family, cruelty, co-dependent lovers, and oppressive binaries. The confession is often intentionally utilized to, hopefully, debunk myths, reveal multiple truths, and productively work with shame and guilt.
