Abstract: A term used to refer to Soviet efforts to influence and manipulate public opinion in other countries during the Cold War, Active Measures has gained a newfound currency in light of the 2016 election influence campaign by Russian intelligence, as well as their overall attempts to shape popular opinion and discourse in the social media environment. This presentation seeks to put current Russian active measures efforts into a broader historical context. Based on my Summer 2019 exhibit of the same name.
