Abstract: It was the purpose of this thesis to describe Ellen Griffin in a manner appropriate to her life style. Because her way of living was more important than her achievements, a traditional biographical format did not seem appropriate and the thesis was approached through the creative process culminating in a creative product. Observations of Ellen Griffin, interviews with those who knew her over a period of time and with members of her family, and questionnaires sent to former students comprised the data. The conceptualization of the thesis resulted from a synthesis of the data organized according to the creative design of the author. The creativeness of Ellen Griffin was described through a golf swing. Qualities of the swing (motion, momentum, force, balance, and rhythm) enveloped a philosophy and way of life. The use of photography and selected writings of the subject supported the analogy and gave it biographical flavor.
