Abstract: Programed instruction is new; its worth as a teaching method is still questioned by some educators. If a classroom teacher is to evaluate and use programed instruction effectively, she needs to know its purposes and must understand and accept the principles of learning on which it is based. A report of the exploration of this thesis follows.
