Abstract: Educational theorists have recently been given an impetus to evaluate critically their pedagogy as a result of a new interpretation of long known principles of learning. This new interpretation has the dynamic potential to cause a reformation of present educational methods and to effect a tremendous increase in the amount of learning acquired through the educational process. Research done in the experimental psychologist's laboratory has made evident specific techniques for efficiently controlling behavior of animals to bring about learning. The application of these techniques to human learning is called programed instruction.
