Abstract: The purpose of this study was to gain insights into the social realities of high school women teacher/coaches by interpreting and re-interpreting the chronological and Expressive Autobiographical interviews (EAI) of four participants. The EAI and the guided interview methods were used to elicit cultural knowledge, beliefs, and attitudes about women and sport. Two constructs, experiences and relationships, served as the mediators for entering into the dialectical conversations with these women. The socialist feminist perspective informed the study. The present study proceeded from a historical materialist standpoint of women, and was based on the theory and method of dialectical phenomenology. A series of interviews were conducted, and the data were juxtaposed with the feminist literature to illuminate the underlying feminist consciousness of these women. Once the social and political nature of their position was established, the data were interpreted and re-interpreted in search of the essential themes.
