Abstract: An opiate epidemic in the United States has fueled an increase in pregnant women on medicated-assisted treatment protocols. Pregnant women in treatment for an opioid addiction face unique challenges from the healthcare system. In response to these challenges, specialized reproductive health programming has been developed. This article describes the development of a program delivered in a local drug treatment clinic. Lessons learned after the first year of implementation are provided along with considerations for healthcare providers working with this population.
