Abstract: School mental health providers (SMHPs) frequently provide services for youth at increased risk for suicide, but few studies have examined SMHPs self-efficacy in managing suicide risk among adolescents. Suicidality is especially concerning in rural areas, given rural areas are associated with increased rates of suicide and lower access to mental healthcare resources than urban areas. This study assessed SMHPs self-efficacy in suicide risk management practices in rural and urban school settings in order to evaluate SMHPs experiences providing post-crisis suicide care.
