Abstract: A high precision Faraday Rotation Apparatus, situated in the UNCP Magneto-Optical Facility (Oxendine 3254), is briefly described. The apparatus presently serves two purposes – advanced instructional lab activities and research. The research involves characterizing the dispersion of the Verdet constant for optically transparent materials in addition to more sophisticated investigations of magneto-optical chemistry and physics. The prototype apparatus allows for modifications in phase sensitive detection techniques, as demanded by various measurement schemes and therefore should prove quite useful in providing a robust research program indefinitely.
