Along with his service at Western Carolina University, he was also influential in establishing Rutherford College in Brevard, N.C. Reynolds is also well known for making major contributions to education in Buncombe and Jackson County.Dean, the author of the manuscript, served as the assistant to A.C. Reynolds at Cullowhee Normal and Industrial School from 1912-1917, as well as serving as an English and French professor. During the first faculty meeting on September 1, 1912 he was elected Secretary of the Board and remained in the position until 1917.
