Abstract: Understanding college student development is at the heart of current best practices in higher education. This bibliographic essay introduces and explains the classic titles and topics that are relevant to all academic library collections. The “Collecting to the Core” column appears regularly in the library journal, Against the Grain, and is inspired by the Resources for College Libraries bibliography.
