Abstract: This senior honors project was conducted as a part of a community health course in a baccalaureate nursing program. In this course, a senior nursing student completed the senior honors project in collaboration with a Registered Nurse (RN) preceptor in a community-based health care setting. The project included a targeted community health assessment, identification of a priority health need, plan of action, implementation and program evaluation. In partnership with the school nurse the goal of this project was to evaluate programs in the school setting that reduce absenteeism among children with special health care needs (CSHCN).
