Abstract: Counseling and technology intersect in many ways. Email, chat rooms, and websites, for example, are used frequently in counseling. Now, smartphones and smartphone applications can also be used during the counseling process. Mobile mind mapping tools can serve ancillary roles to counseling frameworks, such as Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). This integration of counseling and technology has great possibilities for assisting clients in leading healthier and more productive lives. This article outlines four ways mobile mind maps can be utilized during REBT. An overview of REBT is provided with tips for counselors interested in utilizing mobile mind mapping to enhance the counseling process. The article concludes with a brief case study demonstrating the integration of mobile mind maps in counseling.
