Abstract: Poem by Charles Tomlinson Griffes is one of the most- loved pieces in the American flute repertoire. With all its popularity, the work has been a target of arguments concerning wrong notes, cadenzas, and the validity of Barrère's edition. Flutists struggle with these questions, wondering which answer is closest to Griffes' intent.
