Abstract: "This thesis serves to examine philosophical and technical influences and their effect on the author's personal style of music composition. Specific composers, performers, and the influence of their respective practices in my thinking are considered. Selections of compositions from the author's catalogue are inspected, revealing such techniques in maturation. A discussion of my recent string quartet, tracing a certain slant of light, focuses on the application of these inspirational models."--Abstract from author supplied metadata.
